A Family Approach
Involving the family in our resident’s recovery is a crucial part of the work that Transcend Texas does for residents and families alike. We see families as the building blocks of society, and we strive to help them cope with the devastating effects addiction can have. If your family has been negatively impacted by a loved one’s addiction, our sober living programs can help. We know that addiction is often destructive to the whole family, not just to individuals, and so we treat addiction as a disease for everyone involved. We work to help families develop a greater understanding of addiction so that they know the best ways to support their loved ones instead of enabling them.
Our sober living programs link families to resources in their home towns so that they can seek their own support while client’s recovery with us. Parents and family members of Transcend Texas residents can expect weekly phone calls from our staff. It is important that we inform families of their loved one’s well-being, and the progress they are making towards the goals set at the start of the recovery process. Likewise, when challenges are faced, we work with families to help them best support residents in their recovery. Families are often scared and confused by the devastating effects of addiction. To ease that anxiety, our recovery professionals offer them direction and clear cut instructions on how to cope with the healing process.
Support for Families
Transcend Texas offers a number of family weekends lead by licensed mental health and addiction professionals. We invite families of our residents to celebrate the progress and recovery our clients make throughout their stay. During family weekends, families are given the opportunity to engage each other in an open and honest discussion about the impact addiction has had on them. Surrounded by a community of recovery professionals and their peers, families can explore ways they can work together to overcome their challenges and walk the path of recovery. Addiction is a disease that affects families, not only individuals, and we at Transcend Texas believe that incorporating families into treatment is a crucial part of helping our clients stay sober.
Together, We Get Better
Transcend Texas Recovery Community is just that – a recovery community. We help addicts leave the crushing isolation of addiction and start the pathway to recovery with the help of other addicts who have gone before them, as well as with the love and support of their own families. In our program, we believe that leaving the family out of the recovery process is a mistake. Addiction impacts all different types of families – no individual or community is exempt from this disease and it’s tragic effects. As such, we strive to help families from diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds to achieve sobriety and recovery.
Often, addiction wreaks havoc throughout the entire family, and the damage may have been going on for years before an individual enters sober living programs. Therefore, Transcend Texas staff are trained in helping families during this difficult and critical time so that they can emerge stronger than before. We remain united in the cause of recovery for both the individual who is experiencing help for their addiction, as well as the family that surrounds them.
